IOPP or in full International Oil Pollution Prevention Certificate is a crucial document in international maritime law aimed at preventing marine pollution caused by ships. This certificate demonstrates that a ship, when carrying oil or oil products that could pollute the marine environment, has taken the necessary precautions and complies with international standards. The IOPP certificate verifies the adequacy and regular maintenance of oil-water separating equipment, sewage discharge systems, and other pollution prevention equipment on board the ship. This certificate is issued under the MARPOL 73/78 Convention adopted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
