CEC

« Back to Glossary Index

CEC, which stands for Cargo Ship Safety Equipment Certificate, is a mandatory document certifying that a cargo ship has all the necessary safety equipment in accordance with international maritime safety standards. This certificate is essential for the safe operation of the ship. The CEC verifies that the life-saving appliances, fire-fighting systems, communication devices, and other safety equipment on board are sufficient in number, in good condition, and in proper working order. This certificate demonstrates compliance with international maritime safety conventions such as the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) as established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The CEC helps to prevent loss of life at sea and environmental damage by ensuring the safe operation of ships.
